Ono Continues to be Selected for ESG Investment Indexes Adopted by GPIF

  • Ono was selected consecutively as a constituent stock in five out of the six ESG investment indexes adopted by GPIF for selecting domestic equity investments in Japan
  • Additionally, Ono continues to be selected as a constituent stock of the international ESG index, FTSE4Good Index Series

Osaka, Japan, August 17, 2026 – Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka, Japan; President and COO: Toichi Takino; “Ono”) today announced that it was continuously selected as a constituent stock of the following ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investment indexes adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), and ESG investment indexes provided by FTSE Russell.

<ESG investment indexes adopted by GPIF>

GPIF is one of the world’s largest institutional investors, managing Japan’s public pension reserve funds. To promote the sustainable growth of the overall market and enhance long-term returns, GPIF actively advances ESG investing. When selecting investment targets, GPIF adopts the following indices, which cover a wide range of themes such as general ESG factors, climate change, and human capital.

  • MSCI Nihonkabu ESG Select Leaders Index (3 consecutive years from 2024)
    An index composed of companies selected from each industry within the MSCI Nihonkabu IMI Index, developed by MSCI in the United States, based on their outstanding ESG performance.
  • FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Index (9 consecutive years from 2018)
    An index created by FTSE Russell, a global index provider, designed to measure the performance of companies that have taken specific actions regarding ESG.
  • FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index (5 consecutive years from 2022)
    An index constructed by FTSE Russell that reflects the performance of Japanese companies in each sector that demonstrate relatively strong ESG initiatives.
  • S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index (9 consecutive years from 2018)
    This index targets stocks that make up the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) and is composed of Japanese companies with excellent evaluations in environmental information disclosure and carbon efficiency (carbon emissions per unit of revenue).
  • Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index (4 consecutive years from 2023)
    This index is composed of companies selected for their excellent evaluations in gender diversity efforts, based on research by Equileap.

  • FTSE4Good Index Series (9 consecutive years from 2018)
    An international index created by FTSE Russell, designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong ESG practices.
