EHS(Environment, Health, Safety) Global Policy

Chapter1 Purpose

Corporate sustainability requires business activities that address EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety). EHS activities, including compliance with laws and regulations related to EHS, are required not only within the company but also in the supply chain. Therefore, the EHS Policy for the ONO Group is established for this purpose.

Chapter2 Definitions of Terminologies

Article1The terms used in this Global Policy are defined below.

  1. "Applicable Laws and Regulations" means all laws, cabinet orders, ministerial ordinances, municipal ordinances, rules, guidelines, policies, notifications, and other public norms related to the business activities of ONO Group.
  2. "EHS" refers to Environment, Health, and Safety.
  3. "EHS Management System" is a mechanism to maintain and improve environmental and occupational health and safety on a voluntary and continuous basis through the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.
  4. "Employee(s)" means directors, officers, regular employees, contract employees, and other employees of ONO Group, including temporary staff and fixed-term employees.
  5. "Life Cycle" refers to all processes from research, development, procurement, production, distribution, sales, use, and disposal.
  6. "ONO Group" means Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and each of Subsidiaries.
  7. "Subsidiary(ies)" means an entity or entities in which Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. directly or indirectly holds a majority of voting rights (more than 50%) or otherwise exercises equivalent substantial control. Indirect ownership includes all entities in a continuous chain of control, such as subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries.

Chapter3 Scope

This global policy applies to each entity of the ONO Group and Employees.

Chapter4 Basic Principle

Article1ONO Group complies with Applicable Laws and Regulation, international agreements and standards.

Article2ONO Group has established an EHS management system and continuously promote EHS activities.

Article3ONO Group strives to promote environmentally friendly business activities that take the environment into consideration, including the supply chain, throughout the life cycle* of our products.

Article4ONO Group promotes measures to reduce occupational risks, considering a healthy and safe working environment.

Article5ONO Group positively discloses EHS information and broaden communication with society.

Article6ONO Group strives to enhance knowledge and awareness of EHS through our education and enlightenment activities.

Supplementary Provisions

  1. This global policy was approved by the Management Committee on June 28, 2021, and shall take effect on October 1, 2021.
  2. Any revision or abolishment of this global policy shall be deliberated and approved by the EHS Committee and the Sustainability Strategy Committee prior to submission for decision.
